The Canary Island government Supports Pro Animal
Gomera in the fight against the Abandonment and mistreatment of
Animals!
As Milagros Bethencourt, the
spokeswoman announced, the Canary Island government, with the Plan de
Medianias, will support Pro Animal Gomera in their Campaign
against the abandonment and mistreatment of animals.
The Campaign will start on the 2nd of
October in San Sebastian and will continue in Valle Gran Rey on the
9th of October and Hermigua on the 16th. and then stretched to
the rest of the Island communities
During the Campaign, according to M.
Bethencourt, Information Stands will be set up, at the Plaza de las
Americas in San Sebastian, at the Plaza de San Pedro and at the Casa
de la Cultura in Hermigua. Information Brochures will be
available and distributed, contests organized, presents distributed
and information will be announced about the " Special Prize for the
Castration / Sterilization of house pets".
Many activities, such as coloring
pictures and a drawing contest, for which the winner receives a prize,
are aimed at the children and help teach. The winning picture
along with the name of the winner will be published in the 2nd edition
of the Pro Animal Gomera magazine coming in November.
Children who visit the Information
Stand can have their faces prettily painted. There will also be
a Veterinarian present who will be able to explain the Action Rebate
of 25% from the cost of castrating a house pet.
The Campaign has the goal of
making people aware that the gruesome handling of animals is reality
and everyone of us has the duty to help mishandled animals.
Besides that, the goal is to try to solve one of the most important
problems on La Gomera, that is, according to M. Bethencourt, the
abandonment of animals. According to Pro Animal Gomera, 40 %
more animals (mostly from the hunting sector) were abandoned this year
than last year.
