Happy End - 2009...Taggy

The Original Story...   Taggy is a young lady, about three or four years old, that was abandoned in Taguluche (in December) apparently together with a male dog, according to the neighbors.  Someone adopted the male very quickly, but Taggy was left where she was.  In the middle of February, a lady called Pro Animal Gomera (PAG) and told them about the situation and that Taggy was no longer alone.  She had four puppies with her.  When PAG went to pick Taggy up, only three puppies (two girls and one boy) were with her.  Apparently one had died.    Of course the whole family was full of fleas and due to the puppies age (less than four weeks old at the end of February) it will take some time to get rid of all those fleas. Taggy has since been vaccinated, de-wormed and micro-chipped, tested negative for filaria and now just needs to take care of her little ones and wait for someone to love and adopt her .   As stated before, the puppies were born towards the beginning of February and will not be given up for adoption until, earliest, the end of March.

Die Originalgeschichte...   Taggy, diese junge Dame, ist ca. 3 bis 4 Jahre alt. Sie wurde in Taguluche ausgesetzt (im Dezember), offensichtlich gemeinsam mit einem anderen Hund, einem Rüden. Das haben zumindest die Nachbarn berichtet. Der Rüde fand schnell ein neues Zuhause, jemand nahm ihn mit, aber Taggy blieb wo sie war......   Mitte Februar wurde PAG über diese Hündin informiert, aber sie war nicht mehr allein. Vier kleine Welpen waren bei ihr. Als PAG die Hündin abholte, waren es nur noch drei Welpen, ein Welpe war gestorben. Die drei sind zum Glück gesund. Die Familie ist jetzt in einer Pflegestelle und dort wurden die vier erst einmal entfloht. Die reinsten Flohsäcke, so schlimm hatten wir es seit langem nicht mehr.   Die kleine Familie war auch schon beim Tierarzt. Alle wurden entwurmt und Mama erhielt auch die erste Impfung. Sie erhielt auch einen Mikrochip und der Filaria-Test war negativ. Jetzt kann sie sich in Ruhe um ihre Kinder kümmern und darauf warten, dass sich jemand ganz lieb findet und allen ein neues Zuhause gibt.   Die Babies wurden Anfang Februar geboren und können frühestens Ende März abgegeben werden.

Report from the Foster Home...   Taggy can be considered a ”wonderful” dog.  At least the foster folks think so.  She is a bit shy when she first meets someone, but opens up once she gets to know the person.  She doesn’t seem to like a lot of hectic activity or noise in her vicinity and will start to shake when it becomes too much.  Therefore, she would have difficulty adjusting to small children just because the noise and activity they bring with them.  She, herself, is a very quiet dog and would be perfect for an elderly person, couple or a couple with older children.   She is somewhat house trained and we feel that she will improve within days or even hours when she has “regular” hours. She loves to take walks, can follow some commands, knows her name and is thankful for any loving she receives.

Report von der Pflegestelle...   Taggy wird von ihrer Pflegestelle als ein wunderbarer Hund beschrieben. Im Anfang, wenn sie die Umgebung oder Personen nicht kennt, ist sie etwas scheu, aber nach einer Weile öffnet sie sich. Sie liebt keine lauten Geräusche oder Hektik in ihrer Nähe, sie fängt sofort an, zu zittern. Aus diesem Grund wären kleine Kinder nichts für sie.  Sie selbst ist ein ruhiger Hund und wäre der perfekte Begleiter für ein älteres Ehepaar, oder Einzelperson, oder eine Familie mit größeren Kindern. Sie mag andere Hunde und Katzen.   Sie ist fast stubenrein und wir sind sicher, dass sie in wenigen Tagen richtig stubenrein sein wird, wenn sie ihre geregelten Ausgänge hat. Sie liebt Spaziergänge, hört bereits auf einige Kommandos, kennt ihren Namen und ist im Grunde dankbar für jede Aufmerksamkeit, die ihr entgegen gebracht wird.
